Finally got around to finishing off my Kaya Project collection. Been listening to Seb Taylor’s work, in all of its guises, for a very long time. But I’ve always enjoyed his Kaya Project handle the most. The first album, Walking Through, is still my favorite, but not by much. Songs like “Labess,” “Kanzaman Breaks,” and “Stone Turns Black,” have been staples in my ethnic collection since the album came out in 2004.
But as I said, I’ve recently picked up the other albums, and they are just as good. So the track of the day then is “Always Waiting,” off of And So it Goes, from 2008. Not only is a great opener to the album, but it’s just a really good track. You’ll notice too there’s a lot more emphasis on individual instruments, and it’s less electronic, but it’s still definitely in the same style as the earlier albums. Definition of chill right here. Highly recommended!
